Matte satin (peau de soie) fabric is 60" inches wide, 100% polyester and has a medium weight of 6 oz per linear yard.

This fabric features a smooth satin feel with a stiff finish, which helps the fabric maintain a luxurious body.

However, although the matte satin or peau de soie may feel like a satin, this fabric is far less shiny and has a unique matte appearance.

It's got all the great qualities of a satin minus the sheen. This fabric's medium weight, strong body and matte finish make it a versatile choice for all types of garments, crafts and event decorations.

This satin is frequently used in a variety of apparel including blouses, dresses, gowns and skirts.

Pretty satin with a little patience

The satin worked nicely for a dressmaking project and gave the finished piece a polished look. The surface had a smooth sheen, and the drape worked beautifully for the garment. It was a bit slippery to cut, which is normal for this type of fabric. The stretch made fitting easier and the fabric returned to shape after handling. The extra preparation was minor compared with the final result.
